Let’s chat about the chastity/purity culture industry. Catholicism is newish to this. Born out of Midwest heresies and relationships to evangelical culture, it seems to be maintained largely by a group of now middle aged torch bearers who started the silliness decades ago.

There seems in evangelical culture to be an upper age limit to these speakers. But in Catholic culture, we have not seen that grift age out yet.

Largely guys, because the issue is control of women by men, evangelical culture requires its middle aged men to put on certain masculine postures of toughness and sexual prowess (check out the Mars Church dudes).

It’s going to be quite the challenge for me to buy a Christopher West/Jason Evert assertion of gun slinging, karate chopping manliness. So, this will be an interesting development for this lot. Time to follow.
