One of the prominent aspects of CRT is thinking critically about institutions that were made by and for those in power, and how they can maintain a power dynamic.

This isn’t unique to CRT. It seems to be a common line of thought wherever power dynamics are seen.
Of course, this makes it also true of conspiracy theories, anti-sematism, etc.

But it’s no inherently crazy. Presumably a lot of institutions made by and for those in power do maintain power imbalances.
But one of the things that I (and others) are reacting to is a kind of mind-blown brain genius approach to calling out basically normal institutions in a modern industrialized economy and essentializing them to patriarchy or white supremacy or whatever.
This thought is prompted, of course, by “acronyms are white supremacy”.

That’s a particularly silly example, and I’m glad to see it called out, but it’s not alone.
“You cant name something without taking control of it.”

“Banning the use of fire alarms as protest is a form of fascist control.”

“Classifying information in taxonomies is a part of the patriarchy. Women prefer shades of grey.”
“I dont capitalize my name because no letter should have hierarchical power over the other letters.”

Etc etc. These are just real examples off the top of my head, I dont have a comprehensive list.
I think the anti-SJW people go too far in pushing back against this and become paranoid themselves. They end up pushing back against anyone trying to make the world better.

But I’m bothering to say all this because to articulate a normal and relatable motive.
Often people mind-read us and say we’re just uncomfortable in a world with increasing diversity, and we’re trying to further reactionary right wing politics.

I’m sure there’s some of that but for my part... bullshit.
I hope that as time passes, people will get more and more comfortable having frank and critical conversations about social justice without fear and outrage.
