It’s dark here in Perth now
Not far from here there are some extraordinary people, who, for no personal gain, are risking their lives to save other people’s properties, businesses and livestock.
They do this with the resources available to them.
There are never ...

enough resources. They do the best they can with what is available to them and they do a damn fine job. A job, I repeat, for no pay
Once more
Ordinary yet extraordinary people fighting deadly fires as best they can.
Here in WA we have a select few people that

make their living by having their workers dig stuff out of the ground and then selling it overseas with the aim of adding billions more dollars to their already obscene fortunes.
You might know some of these people, they’re called Billionaires. We have one or two and I believe

there is a particularly unpleasant example in QLD. The pandemic has increased their wealth to levels most of us cannot comprehend.
My plea to these people, people that could not spend their money in a thousand lifetimes is quite simple.
You make so much money mining, extracting

various materials from the earth in WA. You are rich beyond compare.
Give some back. Back to the state that gave everything to you.
Provide these firefighters and support crews, everything and more that they could possibly need to do what they do using the best resources money

can buy.
You can afford it
Small change
You wouldn’t notice it’s gone and in no time at all it’s back. Another great chunk of WA on its way to China and you’re all square
Still have more money than god but you’ve given a tiny bit back and the volunteers that one day may save one

of your holiday homes somewhere were better equipped because you did something decent and worthwhile.
But
You won’t read this
Hardly anyone will read this
So unfortunately
Houses will continue to burn down, animals will die, unpaid firefighters will die and the fires will

continue to wreak havoc.
The fire seasons will lengthen, the fire intensity will increase, caused in part, by some billionaires wanting to become bigger billionaires.
The climate will continue to change and no doubt some of you ultra wealthy will find a way to profit further

from the misery to come.
So, please, don’t be remembered as the despised, money worshipping pieces of shit that we see you as now. Make a difference, help those that could do with help the most.
I won’t be holding my breath though
