Fast forward to now. I'm back online after more than a month and it has been absolutely unfathomable how so many people on here and in positions of power are acting like the last four years didn't happen...
Like the idea of accountability for killing hundreds of people in drone strikes, killing hundreds of thousands from government mismanagement of COVID-19, caging children, + literally inciting a white nationalist assault on the US Capitol is preposterous and we should "move on"...
The lack of accountability in this town -- particularly in the 'security' spaces where the 'serious' people pontificate about what's in some made-up perception of U.S. national interests rather than what will make actual human beings safe -- is a key reason why we got Trump...
If we fail to even question why the last four years happened in favor of 'getting back to normal' this will only be a pause in this hellish siege on democracy. We will fail to undo and unlearn the dangerous othering and dehumanization that undergirds so of the GOP ideology atp...
but rather than being disheartened, I am grateful for the masks for coming off and exposing people in power for who they have been all along. I, for one, have worked too damn hard for the last half decade to see elite complacency and greed keep us from making progress. #LFG
