There's a lot of talk about how Biden's EOs on climate & oil/natgas could impact US job growth.

As the group leading clean energy job tracking over the last 5 yrs, we have thoughts.

And let’s start w/ Texas, America's #2 state for clean jobs (/thread)
A lot of assumptions are often made about America's energy economy. The fact is #cleanenergy employs 3X the number of workers nationwide as fossil fuels do.

In fact, 42 States employ more workers in #cleanenergy than fossil fuels.

That’s right, FORTY-TWO (see map).
And even in Texas – one of the few states that has more fossil fuel jobs overall—clean energy employs more workers than fossil fuels in close to half of its counties (despite having 100,000 fewer workers statewide).
Since 2017, clean energy added jobs 2X faster than national employment & 60% faster than fossil fuels in TX – positioning the state as a future global leader in renewables.

This is the smart jobs bet as solar+wind are projected as 2 of the fastest-growing job fields next 10 yrs
And TX should want to be a global leader.

For one, most #cleanenergy jobs ( #wind, #solar, #energyefficiency) actually pay more than fossil fuel extraction jobs like mining, drilling, and fracking.

Together, #wind + #solar workers earn roughly $24.90/hr, about $0.50 more/hour.
Most importantly, renewable generation actually creates MORE jobs in Texas per megawatt hour (MW) of energy produced than fossil fuels do.

8X MORE jobs to be exact -- yet accounts for just one-fifth of all energy consumed.
The good news is Texas has 528 renewable projects in the work via @BloombergNEF.

In fact, many of the states w/ the highest-potential for #cleanenergy are those like Texas.

But the state will need to do much more to reach US climate + employment goals.
Nearly all future power projects in Texas are wind/solar/storage. And for good reason — they're the most cost-effective options.

Do lawmakers want to cede these investments and the millions of jobs they will create overseas as the rest of the world doubles-down on clean energy?
The difference b/t being one of the world's leaders in the clean energy economy and having the potential to be is action.

Fact is, the sheer scale of work, funding & resources created by the admin's agenda could mean more jobs & higher wages across every state and county.
Economists, investors, & entrepreneurs know: Clean energy jobs are the jobs of the future!

US has leaders now who understand the push for a clean energy economy is about putting America + American workers at the forefront of the global economy.

AND Texas should be leading it!
