I feel a HUGE rant fomenting within me.
Heads up.
Heads up.
*deep breath
Do you even know what the hell you want? You say socialist policy is what you want. Well, so does most of the electorate. We're in agreement on that much, right? Great. How do we get it? Forget that for now, let's see how it has been proved

we don't get it. We have traditionally entrusted Labour - a political party - to deliver socialist policy, right? How's that working out for ya? Clearly, neither Labour nor the party machinery y'all think is such a wonderful thing, is a successful strategy. So fuck Labour. Do
we need a new socialist party, with an equally brilliant party machinery, that is a cookie cutter Labour party that people will still widely reject, because it is 'socialist'? Pfft! And spare me your bottom up sycophancy. The membership owns Labour, literally, and yet it has been
utterly corrupted. Clearly, a new socialist party is equally susceptible to the EXACT same corruption as your shiny new socialist party, and people still won't vote for it, because it is a socialist party. Let's face it, if you want socialist policy, the solution to realising
that doesn't and can't exist in either Labour, a new party, or even under the moniker of socialism. While socialist policy is certainly popular, it gets swatted down simply because it is identified as socialist. I don't make the rules. I just observe them. You KNOW this is true.
You KNOW this is the problem. You have all told me as much, and you facking insist it is the only path to getting socialist policy!!!! What the actual fuck??? Can you actually hear yourselves? "Oh, what's your brilliant idea, then, Tris?" We've already agreed that political
parties, and adherence to socialist ideology cannot deliver socialist policy, right? Can we remember that, and hold another idea in our heads that doesn't even contradict that? Good.
Dump the ideology.
Sell the policy.
Break the party system.
Sell the policy.
Break the party system.
Our party system is ideologically based, which is why we can never get what we want. It offers ONLY ideology, policy is a secondary consideration. Only by dumping ideology, and the systems that control them, can we concentrate on the thing that unites the electorate, which is
rather conveniently largely socialist anyway. Calling any policy a good socialist policy will ensure it will never see the light of day. It's either a good policy that the electorate will support, or it is a shit policy it won't. Of course, the parties aren't interested in
policy, so they'll reject it irrespective of its merits, because their focus is ideological power in parliament, at the expense of your constituency representation, so fuck off any and all 'solutions' that even suggest parties are the way forward. They aren't. Again, we already
KNOW this. So how doe we get popular policy delivered, if we abandon the party system to get it delivered? We set up a national organisation - NOT A FACKING PARTY - that electors only can subscribe to (you have to prove you are on the electoral roll to have a say), where policy
can be proposed, discussed and voted on at a national level. THIS is how we get the popular policy on the table. To get it passed we need to select PPCs in our own constituency groups, made up from the same members of the national group that are as invested in getting that policy
set delivered IN YOUR CONSTITUENCY as you are, that will deliver that national policy set. That they will do your bidding is on you as an electoral unit. You're already invested in the policy you have helped set, so invest a little time in finding out who the hell you want to
make sure it gets passed, will get it it fucking passed. A GE comes along, and you realise this movement has no leader. Fucking A, it has no leader. You don't need to be dictated to or inspired, you've done all the damned work yourself. Just concentrate on getting that PPC YOU
helped select into Parliament at any legal cost. This is your ticket to getting what you want. When the polls open on election day, the national group shuts down to new subscribers. Should enough PPCs that share the same commitment to delivering the same policy set their
constituencies have demanded of them win 325 seats, they form a loose coalition to establish a quorum sufficent to request the Queen they form a government. But we still don't have a leader. Once the results are, the national group polls the subscribers on who they want to be
PM, from those that have expressed their permission to be considered as a candidate. The winner becomes the DIRECTLY elected Prime Minister, upon requesting he/she forms a govt. Proceed to deliver already agreed policy.
NONE OF THIS REQUIRES ANY CHANGE IN LAW.
You've leveraged the power of FPTP to your advantage, and wiped out the relevance of political parties in one fell swoop. Now we can have nice things.
You're fucking welcome.
That's my manifesto. You got a problem with it? Find the solutions, and share them so it becomes better, so that we can all have nice things. It's your democracy, after all, not mine alone. All I can do is show you a path. It's up to you if you choose to explore it.
