aright so looking through mcr’s catalog u can find that most of the covers are either illustrations (revenge + tbp) or very abstract in general. they rarely use pictures and the ones they use are heavily edited making them seem “unreal” (see danger days + bullets)
now some of the images they’ve used are photographs bc mcr invents stories with characters and there’s always either a fantasy element to those stories. the black parade single is an exception except not really since they are portraying those characters
basically, u won’t get a picture of them just hanging out outside (god knows they already do that during photoshoots). it’s either them in character or another element that’s part of the story in some way, that’s why just trying to guess what the next cover would be is HARD
who knows they might do some random shit that has nothing to do with the image they’ve presented for the return. so. but we’re gonna take what we have so far. so basically we have things from a summoning, the new logo and the typography used in posters and posts
if u want to do a fake album cover those are already pretty solid elements to use as a base for how u want it to look like (color palette-wise) HOWEVER. remember that they like things that are unexpected so there’s still room to mess around with it.
also the new image (a summoning, etc.) gives me major black sabbath, sunn o))) and sleep vibes (gerard has mentioned sleep in the past) so i wouldn’t put past them to keep the vibe going tho
forgot to mention: the composition of the album covers mcr usually does is pretty simple overall so i don’t think u need to throw in there tons of things or overthink it too much. i think they’re more about illustration/image than the text composition (look out for kerning tho!!)
anyway these are all the clues i’ve gathered so far so if u wanna mess around in photoshop there u have it. i need to go out food in my body but i’ll be back in a bit with whatever random thing i’ve come up with
