1. I believe AOC was scared as I’m sure most people in the building were.
2. There is zero evidence, ZERO, AOC had any reason to be scared of the Capitol police. When we speak of perceived bias, this “fear” of the police, was hers.
AOC has decided police = bad to match her political ideology. Frankly I don’t know that she actually believes it or it is a way to score political points with a crowd sympathetic to that her view.
Just because AOC ascribes bad motives to the Capitol police, none of us are required to nod along because there is no evidence at any time any police officer acted with malfeasance. None .
She said the officer said “where is she” to her aides and didn’t announce himself. The officer likely believed her aides saw his uniform & knew he was safe. He had NO reason to suspect he was under suspicion by them of being a conspirator. Why would he think that?
Most sane people in the middle of a break in see POLICE and run or cling to them. They cry in relief. I’m safe! I’m sure most officers have never had the experience of a “hostage” believing cops are bad guys when they come to the rescue.
I don’t discount AOC’s fear at all or that of anyone else. I’m highly offended she keeps this narrative of “the police could have been in on it” when officers lost their lives protesting Congress. It’s super inflammatory & rooted in her own propaganda.
Finally, AOC’s experience highlights that at any time, police won’t always be everywhere and it might not hurt to have someone in your office armed and trained just in case. With her bizarre beliefs abt cops, I’m glad no one in her office was armed, tbh.
