I received one of the many NHS Covid-19 vaccine scams in my email inbox today and I almost fell for it.

Even though I report on misinformation, I found it convincing which speaks to the heart of the power of text and email scams
The email says the NHS is selecting people “on the basis of family genetics and medical history”.

As an asthmatic, this played on my emotions – a main ingredient for disinfo to be effective
I could tell it was fake by hovering my mouse over the links to accept or decline the invite and seeing a non-NHS URL. The email address was also not legit
Clicking through, the scam site (left) looks almost exactly like the real NHS website (right). However, it asks for people’s personal and card details
These scams are life-like, so it’s worth warning friends and family about. As @CMOWales says, the NHS website will never ask for payment https://twitter.com/CMOWales/status/1354354745666916353
