IBN TAIMIYYAH THE REVIVER?
My attention was drawn towards this video. *sighs* Ya ilahi. This is the kind of things they say to their followers that make them consider Ibn Taimiyyah (IT) as a second Prophet favoring his views over sound narrations.

IT disagreed with his contemporaries on many issues which leads Salafis to Qiyas with what happened to Rasul.
I say: RasulaLlah recieved revelations, where did IT get his version of the truth from?
If everything was changed before IT came, then how did he "figure out" the truth?

IT had disagreed with 60+ scholarly consensus (Ijma') including consensus of the Sahaba.
Some of his beliefs are refuted in Fathul Bari by Ibn Hajar.
In kitabu fadli salat fil Masjidil Makkata wal Madinah, Ibn Hajar refuted IT's fatwa restricting oft Ziyara to the Rawdah,

describing it as "one of the ugliest things attributed to him".
In Sharh Kitabu Tauhid, same Fathul Bari, Ibn Hajar refuted IT's position that there were hawadith along with Allah from the onset, also describing it as an ugly statement.

In Minhajus Sunnah, IT dismissed the Hadith of Ruddatish Shams saying "scholars of Hadith know this a fabricated lie".
This Hadith was narrated by Imam Tahawy, Tabarani, Hakim, & al Bayhaqi. If these mountains confirm the hadith, then which "scholars of Hadith" was IT referring?

He does this a looooot! He says there is a concensus on issues that he very well knows there's none.
You also find him rejecting Nass by Qiyas. He did something like that on the Hadith of Mu'âkhât which was even related in the Sahihayn.

In Minhajus Sunnah, IT said the hadith of "man kuntu maulahu..." is maudhoo' by CONCENSUS of Scholars of Hadith.
The hadith was related by Ibn Hibban, Hakim, Tirmidhi, Nasa'e, Tabari, Abu Nu'aym, Ibn Hajar all categorized this hadith between Sahih and Hassan.
Which concensus?

Ibn Hajar commented on IT in Lisanul Mizan saying "how numerous the occasions in which we find IT undermining Sayyidina Ali just because he wants to refute the Rafidhis?"
The guts is real guys, IT once said Imam Ali (AS) MADE MISTAKES ON 17 OCCASIONS. Imam Ali fah

The list is in Durarul Kaaminah of Ibn Hajar al Asqalani.
IT said; Ali fought only for the sake of duniya, he implied that Ali wasn't a believer.
This is why Ibn Hajar concluded by saying "this is why SCHOLARS considered IT as a Hypocrite".

Taqiyuddeen As Subki said "scholars recommended that he be kept locked".
Ibn Hajar al Haythami said "I heard Izzu bn Jama'a saying Ibn Taimiyyah is a misguided servant of Allah".
Salahuddeen as Safadi in A'yanul Nasr said he was misguided.

Imam Adhahabi said "I differ with Ibn Taimiyyah on both usul and furu' issues". This statement is in Durarul Kaaminah.
Abu Hayyan in his Tafsir - Bahrul Muheet ALWAYS refuted IT on Ayatus Sifaat.

Ibn Daqiqil 'Eid, who is the undisputed (according to as Subqi) Mujaddid of Ibn Taimiyyah's time (ie. 7th C) said "I saw him as a man, who claimed to have all knowledge, he takes what he likes & leaves what he likes".
Kamaluddeen Azzamlakani (IT's) friend refuted him in 10 vols!

Ibn Batuta wrote him a refutation in his Rihla.
Ibn Rajab al Hanbali wrote him a sound refutation in Zaynul Tabaqatul Hanabila.
Ibn Shakir in 'Uyoonu Taarikh, al Qadhi Ibn Umar Al Maqdasi... over 300 scholars who met him refuted him.

Even his students point at some of his statements and say "we don't know what took him to make this comment".

Disclaimer: I believe IT was a scholar of towering repute.
In fact, when Shaykh Ibrahim Inyass visited Kano, he was asked about IT, he talked about his life & ended up saying
"ومات *رحمه الله* في...".
Imam Dhahabi praised him saying "I've never seen anyone like him".

Ibn Qayyim also spent his entire life praising him.
Shaykh Yusuf Nabahani who always trampled over IT, praised him due to his book "الصارم المسلول".
...amongst other Salafis, who even went to extent of Ghuluww in his praise by calling him a Prophet, etc.

My point is not to say he is not a scholar... I love and admire his intelligence at times, but in the issues where he alone opposed all scholars, he most likely is WRONG.
These Salafis will take Ibn Taimiyyah's position over Ahadith. This is unfortunate.
These Salafis will take Ibn Taimiyyah's position over Ahadith. This is unfortunate.
The funniest part is, Salafis take his word as proof, following his judgment against that of Sahabas until he says things like "Maulid is rewarded for" etc., which does not suit the Wahabi creed, then they reject even him saying they only follow the sunnah. IT followed what?

Some of His Inventions
1. Triple statement of divorce counts as one.
2. On describing Allah without Ta'weel or Tarteel
3. Stepping on the honor of campanions eg. Fatima, Ali, Ibn Umar etc.
4. Division of Tawhid (which is the basis for all Takfir)
5. Controversial fatwa to kill.

7. Illegitimizing Tawassul
8. Heaven and hell have end
9. Allah "created" himself and many more.
In fact, everything that originally originated from IT was unequivocally rejected until the horn of Shaytan MIAH came along.

The Sunnah you're following as a Salafi is that of MIAH and at best, the mistakes of IT.
Untop of this, IT although deviant, was still Sufi.
The only thing he revived was ikhtilaf and extremism.
This is not the end.
