Reminded of the time as a nursing student always dealing with racism on any placement.
One particular placement I dropped out of, complained to the uni’s Head of Nursing who then made me describe to her what I experienced in order for them to determine if it was really racism
They kept saying “I don’t understand how is that racist though? “What was exactly said” “This isn’t good enough reason to drop out we won’t allow it”
We dropped out of this placement and two others. This added an extra 2.5 months to my nursing degree but I preferred that than attempting to complete placements where my worth, identity and who I am was ridiculed
