Thread, Hama massacre

39 years ago today, Hama was surrounded by over 12,000 government forces lead by Hafez Al-Assad's brother, Rifaat. No electricity, no telephones, and laying siege to the city for 27 days, the infrastructure in Hama was bombed to allow infantry and tanks to
enter relatively easily, destroying most of the old city.

With each day during the operation, soldiers entered a new neighborhood, they started by killing/arresting everyone, then turn into looting and stealing money and properties, they even broke into government departments
Soldiers killed anyone who's with the Muslim brotherhood and captured their families, then killed them.

Torture and mass executions of any suspected sympathizers resulted the deaths of thousands within a very short period
Houses, stores, mosques, and churches were bombed, people were killed in front of their families, some families were burned alive, children were killed/kidnaped, women were raped. They were innocent people who got killed for no reason, and till today no justice has been made.
The Assad regime made sure to show us how dissent would be dealt with. They were proud about the operation and considered as a victory.
Till today there's no accurate number of how many were murdered, the regime buried them in mass graves. But Human rights organizations confirmed
that about 40,000 were killed.

Rifaat Al-Assad who is currently living a wealthy life in France, despite the fact that he's a criminal, he made sure to boast about the number of casualties, he was proud to point out that over 38,000 people had been killed during the operation
39years later, Syrians are still in the same place, the same situation. innocents civilians are still being daily killed by the same regime, but this time Bashar Al-Assad is the main criminal, following the footsteps of his father and uncle
WE WILL NOT FORGET, WE WILL NOT FORGIVE
