What the 49ers roster could look like after signing DESHAUN WATSON:
* Able to re-sign Trent Williams, Jason Verrett
* All pro center Corey Linsley
* Depth pieces
Assuming a cap of about $185 million according to multiple reports of a 17 game season recouping revenue.
Trade package for Watson:
2021 1st & 2nd
2022 1st & 2nd
2023 1st & 3rd
Jimmy G
Javon Kinlaw
Jimmie Ward

3 1sts, 2 2nds, a 3rd, a solid QB that Texans GM Caserio knows well, and 2 starters on defense.

49ers can STILL build a great roster.
Only 6.5m in cap left in 2021, but 49ers won't have any 1st/2nd round picks so signing rookies will only take $3-4m tops.
Future 49ers picks
'21 - 8 picks: 3.102, 4.116, 5.155, 5.172, 5.181, 6.195, 7.227, 7.237
'22 - 5 picks: Two 3rd rounders, 4th, 5th, 7th
'23 - 6 picks: 2nd, 3rd (comp pick), 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

After that it's back to full drafts.
Overall point is that trading for Watson definitely works. You can keep a really good core of players together. 19 draft picks over 3 years isn't bad at all. SF can definitely fill out the roster with cheap players.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is NOT trading for him.
The team's core for the next 2-3 seasons will be:
Watson, Kittle, Bosa, Trent Williams, Warner, Armstead, Corey Linsely, Verrett, Tomlinson, Deebo (2 more season)

That's a super bowl core. fill the rest of the team out with rookies and cheap vets.
Future free agency:
2022- 25 players under contract. $78 million in cap space.
Notable FAs: Fred Warner, McGlinchey, Mostert, Wilson, Kentavius Street
2023 - 23 players under contract: $104m in cap space
Notable FAs: Bosa, Gould, Greenlaw

Extending Warner and Bosa is feasible
2022 free agency IF SF picks up McGlichey's option of $12m:

26 players under contract. $65m million in cap space.
Notable FAs: Fred Warner, Mostert, Wilson, Kentavius Street

If you pay Warner, You have about $45m to get 27 non-core players. Tough but not too hard.
Overall changes in roster makeup. Overall less d-line depth, maybe our run defense suffers a bit. But I think our offensive firepower and pass rush outweighs any risk of a less dominant run defense.
Draft with no 100 picks. Focus on depth and role players (1/2)
Shaka Toney - Pure LEO for Kocurek's wide9. Bendy pass rushing specialist to replace Dee Ford.
Rodarius - 6'0 CB, good size/length. Could develop into CB2.
Dazz Newsome - Speedy slot WR, dangerous in the open field
Alaric Jackson - OT. Relatively quick, NFL system experience.
Carlo Kemp - D-line depth for base-downs. Mainly interior.
Chris Evans - Speedy RB, good route runner. Pass game contributor.
Anthony Hines - Versatile linebacker with coverage skills.
Offense:
QB: DeShaun Watson, Rosen, CJ
RB: Mostert, Wilson, Hasty, Evans
FB: Hokit
TE: Kittle, Dwelley, Woerner
LT: Williams, Shon Coleman
LG: Tomlinson, Skule
C: Linsley, Garland
RG: Brunskill, McKivitz
RT: McGlinchey, Skule, Alaric Jackson
Base defense:
LDE: Bosa
NT: Kevin Givens, Carlo Kemp
3-tech: Street, Darrion Daniels
DE: Armstead
SAM: Azeez
MIKE: Warner
Will: Greenlaw
FS: Moore, Diablo
SS: Harris
CB: Verrett, Dontae Johnson
CB: Moseley, Rodarius
Nickel D
EDGE: Bosa
DT: Street
DT: Armstead
EDGE: Shaka
LB1: Warner, Nzeocha
LB2: Greenlaw, Hines
Nickel: Either Dontae Johnson or Diablo
CB: Verrett
CB: Moseley
Roster strengths: Elite pass game, elite run game, very good pass rush
Weaknesses: D-line depth might hurt run defense, some weaknesses in coverage at safety and nickel positions

Hopefully we put up so many points and control the clock that run defense is a marginal concern.
But don't count out Kocurek. I think he's the type to take more practice squad guys like Givens and put them in the position to succeed. Minimizes concerns over d-line depth and run defense. https://twitter.com/Coach_Yac/status/1210684636604616704
