Idk how many of you were watching the NWSL back in the OG days but this reminds me so much of that. For 5 years at least, the NWSL was an absolute disaster, constantly. The games and players were incredible but the league was exhausting as hell.
Doesn’t mean you love it any less. Doesn’t mean the big dreams can’t be reached. Doesn’t mean any of it is nefarious. Just tough, ugly growing pains. Men’s leagues have been around for so long nobody really remembers firsthand what it was like for them.
Right now Ty is interim commissioned, if memory serves. Whoever takes the reins next, whether it’s her or someone else, has the opportunity to make this A Big Girl Operation. Sponsors are clearly interested in throwing $ at this.
Someone organized and dedicated with lots of experience can bring this league to the next level probably quite quickly. I’m hopeful that’s where we’re headed. But in the meantime...
