I am listening to @AOC on IG live as she describes the trauma she has faced. Heartbreaking.
As if it wasn’t enough that she has already had death threats leveled against her, but she lived and survived the trauma of being in what amounted to an active shooter situation in which she was the *literal target*
unable to trust law enforcement supposedly sworn to protect her,
she then bared her soul and spoke directly and eloquently about it,
all in the face of what will be—and already is—vicious, unrelenting and unwarranted criticism for simply being vulnerable and telling her story,
during which she also pointed out how such trauma forces victims to relive their experiences, and then detailed an earlier one from her own life.
That is what leaders do, and we should be honored for her bravery and leadership.
