A
on the actions that this moment demands from unions in education:
1. Joint union press conferences after every single @sflecce conference. We can’t just rely on reporters to counter his messages in that format & the general public doesn't read media releases.

2. Provincially organized town halls where we invite members & the public. Call the town halls “Getting our schools open safely & for the long term”. Make it clear that schools are closed because of Ford's inaction & that this instability will continue without real change.

3. Show the public in those town halls what the “layers of protection” are, show them that spread has been happening in our buildings.
4. Put the education workers from the community on the stage to describe their school environment.

7. Next, go to MPP offices and bring the media. Many don’t feel safe enough to keep offices open, but they want schools open without extra protection. Make a schedule and ensure that every day of the week different MPPs are visited. Make it the news every single day.

Not only is that what I would do as President of OSSTF, a lot of it is what I did do as an organizer in the summer. It’s why we went from $20 million to $400 million of extra school funding.

It’s important for unions to have conversations at official tables, but when the answer is “no" at that table you go outside, into your communities and build the pressure to get a “yes”.
