Biden needs to realize -and quickly- that the people who elected him into the office he currently occupies do not care whether an equitable and substantial COVID relief package has the support of Republicans. We care solely about getting the relief that we deserve.
This far gone fantasy of bipartisanship on substantive issues is why the Dems continue to ram into brick walls. Politics is a game and you need to play to win. Republicans get control and get what they want done w/o consulting or considering Dems. Because they play to win.
If the Dems squander what is really an easy opportunity to do what needs to be done, they can lock in support of skeptics and even expand their coalition because people will actually benefit from the material impact of receiving relief that has escaped us for so long.
This offer that Republicans have made is so clearly and woefully inadequate, it’s actually a slap in the face to voters to sit and consider what has been proposed. But yeah let’s make sure we’re reaching across the aisle while people continue to descend into despair
The Dems have the narrowest margin of control that there can be. They need to be aggressively getting stuff done for the next two years to prove to voters that they deserve continued control, not wasting time trying to reason with a party that has a war within itself
