We just had a short media briefing and here is a fact that stood out to me: 100,000+ people tried for appointments through myChart this morning. That's just at @StLukesHealth alone. That means 100,000+ people WANT this vaccine because they believe so strongly in it!
Another tidbit shared: @StLukesHealth is adding vaccine appointments as we get confirmation of additional vaccine supply. At one point around lunch time 1,500 additional appointments were opened and gone in about 6 minutes. That's how fast they go.
Our @StLukesHealth Sr. Director of Pharmacy says the best times to check in myChart for new appointments based on when we get updates about our vaccine supply are Monday mornings and again later in the week. There are also cancelations here and there that open up spots.
Scott Milner, @StLukesHealth: "We are only opening appts that we have inventory, or we know shipment is on its way, for...If you try to book an appt say 3 weeks from now, it’s not that there is not an appointment available. It’s that we don’t have the inventory to open it to you”
Milner: “So our process is week to week, we will have a continual evaluation and will open those primary appointments to make sure we honor those appointments.” We want to protect people from cancelations, if at all possible. That's why you should check back for availability.
Another tip: You only book your #COVID19vaccine booster shot in person when you check in at the clinic to get your first dose. You are strongly urged to book it at that time so your dose is planned for and a priority. Do NOT book your booster at the same time as your 1st dose.
