An easy 2 part question. Jim Allister MLA whether the Dept of Health fully accepted the public inquiry 'findings' into the deaths of 5 children from hyponatraemia and also asked about the Chief Scientific Advisor. He outlined the implications of his question very succinctly. 2/4
The Minister for Health, Robin Swann MLA, gave no answer to the questions asked of him by Jim Allister MLA. Instead, he said the Dept of Health accepted the Inquiry's 'recommendations', and then read a section of the report, that undoubtedly applies to all public inquiries. 3/4
It is only 2 weeks since an extraordinary intervention by the N Ireland Department of Health with a BBC journalist who was tweeting about private legal proceedings concerning the hyponatraemia scandal involving the Chief Scientific Advisor and the General Medical Council. 3/4
The Hyponatraemia Inquiry found serious failings with both individual doctors and with the Department of Health. It is entirely unacceptable that they have failed to address the concerns of the children's relatives, such as the determined patient advocate, @GarethRoberts0. 4/4
