#WorldBookDay Thread...
Last week I started a World Book Day idea DM Group (well 4 of them...)
People are still asking to join, so I thought I'd start sharing some of the best ideas in a thread, including some of my own and what we're doing as a school...

Last year, I made this resource...
https://wp.me/p9Eqea-2i
UK children's book covers and foreign editions. Children to match them...
A simple but fun task. That's 10 mins sorted!

Another dead simple resource is this Top Trump card template.
Options of either an A4 version or 4 to a page. Children can create their own cards based on their favourite book characters (We had a lot of fun doing this as a family last year!) https://wp.me/p9Eqea-6t

The most popular ideas in the DM groups is 'Masked Reader' which I can't claim as my own!
Based on The Masked Singer...
There are 2 versions.
1) teachers read wearing a mask - children guess who
2) Teachers wear a mask and give clues to their identity (book clues encouraged)

I wanted the groups to bounce ideas about. This one was a collaborative idea that I love!
I've started to make a poster but I hate it...
We're asking children to recreate a book cover, stick it in their window and then walk around town trying to spot others! #DailyExercise!

#WorldBookDayTV!
The day should be about stories... So we're creating a TV channel (actually loads of zoom links). So that children can 'tune in' to a story from any teacher all day! A potential 6 hours of LIVE STORIES!

An oldie that I feel is even more needed right now!
Choosing a whole school picture book focus. This builds the sense of community, knowing that everyone is looking at the same book.
We've decided to try a wordless picture book to make it even more accessible!

A job on the to-do list is to search around and find the pre-recorded videos from authors.
@WorldBookDayUK @authorfy @clpe1 have some great videos and @sophieinspace is trying to make something awesome too (She's a good'un)!
This will be available much closer to the day

Obviously this amazing thread by @Rosemarycalm will already be on everyone's radar. The DM groups were big fans of this! https://twitter.com/Rosemarycalm/status/1353351777450680320
Fancy dress... Always a debate!
We're asking children to bring a clue to a book to morning check-ins.
Could be full costume, could be a prop, could be something else... Hopefully this will develop book talk.
As a family we're still debating an Amelia Fang or Mr Gum theme...

Reading dens, video book reviews, bookmarks etc are all other great ideas.
I'll add to this thread any other resources that are made/found later.
