Hey, guys. Today I am going to focus on a very underrated season in 2009-10 Deron Williams.
I hope you enjoy the following thread. If you do so, I would appreciate a RT or follow.

To start off, DWill averaged the following inflation adjusted stats in the regular season:
19.9 Points/75
11.0 Assists/75
3.9 Rebounds/75
with a 3.1rTS% / 106 TS+,
while dealing with an Offensive Load of 47.4 (better version of USG%)

Those stats are impressive enough to just look at, but are nothing compared to his advanced stats and impact metrics:
Raw stats are cool, and Deron's advanced stats are impressive, but let's talk about his true ability. What was he good and bad at?
Williams was best at playmaking. His playmaking, this season and overall, is at the all-time great level. His pick and roll passing ability is amongst the best of the best.
Stats also represent how good DWill's playmaking was. Here are some of the best playmaking stats:

What stands out with Deron is that he improved his play in the playoffs. The sample size is not great, but the point stands:
23.4 Points/75
9.8 Assists/75
with an improvement in BPM (5.0 --> 6.4), 3pt% on more attempts(37.1% --> 39.2%) and efficiency (3.1 --> 7.1 rTS%).

The big minus with Deron Williams is his defensive ability. Neither is his On-Off DefRtg good (-3.18), nor does his DPIPM lead to a conclusion of good defense (-1.2).
The eye-test agrees with that. He is a below average defender and does not stand out, on this end of the floor.
