Matthew Stafford is officially a member of the Los Angeles Rams! Many are wondering what can we expect from this offence in 2021? Who will see the biggest boost here? Iâm here to dive into the fantasy outlook for the Rams offence next season!
The first player who sees an obvious boost here is Matthew Stafford. Stafford has elite arm talent and I expect him to really thrive in L.A. Staffordâs weapons improve a good amount here as he gets to play Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Cam Akers and Tyler Higbee.
Staffordâs weapons consisted of Kenny Golladay(played 4 games), Marvin Jones, DâAndre Swift, T.J. Hockenson and Quintez Cephus. Stafford was the QB15 in 2020 and averaged 21.4 PPG in 2019. He is a borderline top 10 fantasy QB and is a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 with upside.
Cam Akers doesnât see much of a change for me here. Either way I expect Cam Akers to be a great fantasy RB in 2021. Maybe he sees a slight boost without stacked boxes, we will see. As of now Akers is a low-end RB1 and should be a lock for the 2nd round in redraft next season.
Robert Woods sees a huge boost here for me. Woods was the WR14 last season and has been one of the more underrated fantasy WRs over the last couple seasons. Goff ranked 32nd in IAY/PA, while Stafford ranked 5th in IAY/PA(intended air yards per pass attempt).
What this means is Woods should see a lot more big plays with Staffordâs big arm. Goff is more of a system QB while Stafford has one of the best arms of all time and can hit his receivers deep with ease. Woods sees a nice boost here and is a high-end WR2 for 2021.
Cooper Kupp is another guy people are saying sees a boost here. Iâm not sure. Kupp saw 5+ targets in every game this season and finished the season with 124 targets. He was one of Goffâs favourite weapons. I have a hard time seeing him improve with Stafford.
Kupp was the WR26. Weâll see if Stafford can build a similar report but it is a risky selection and I feel like Cooper Kupp screams being over drafted next season. Woods should be the guy who benefits the most from Staffordâs deep ball. Kupp is a low-end WR2/WR3 for 2021.
Tyler Higbee was widely regarded as a bust in 2020 fantasy drafts. I can see Higbee becoming a decent option with upside though. Weâll see if people hype him up because of Stafford or if he slips because he burnt so many fantasy managers last season. Heâs worth a flier.
Higbee was the TE17 in 2020 and the TE8 in 2019. He struggled to earn a role in a crowded Rams offence and was overshadowed by Gerald Everett multiple times. With the likely departure of Everett, Higbee should be the clear cut TE1 and as of now is more of a decent TE2 in fantasy.
Overall Iâd say the whole Rams offence sees a boost here. Itâll be interesting to see what narratives form around these players and who will be overhyped or who will be undervalued. As always I will be posting my thoughts on these players as the offseason progresses.
