Just some offhand thoughts on the whole Ape season thing.
TL:DR Ape Together Strong, I hope the movement doesn't end over drama. Messi has been our fearless leader for a year now and made a ton of people a lot of money.

Messiah brought the Ape thing up as early as March and started a genuine revolution. Literally wearing an ape suit in videos and bringing a movement like I'd never seen before. Back then he had some 50,000+ followers.
Anyone now using the Ape in branding or posts is riding the popularity of a movement generated by Messi. There's no two ways about that. If you posted an ape two years ago, some may have thought it was funny. Post an ape now and you're part of a community.
Alex credited Messi with starting it in July. Let's just go with that date. At that time, Alex had some 1200 followers. I always found it odd that he would start a business that was literally capitalizing on someone else's movement. But, smart businesses do that.
Some people seem to like his product (no idea how many but sounds like they're selling) so there's a demand and there was no supply. Alex filled a supply void. Can't judge him for that and I don't feel like most people did. Maybe some found it odd (like myself), but no foul play.
But to claim that the branding is unique because of the font and that's what gives him the right to trademark it seems a bit silly to me. If I make a shirt with an Ape on it and an Alpha logo right now then the only one that could sue me is Alpha.
Alex's twitter was always going to blow up. He's a successful and profitable trader. He started selling products and said it was never about the profit. If it's not about making money then why is the 'trademark' part relevant at all?
I'm not buying any Ape paraphernalia. Perhaps I'm not an ape at heart. But it's been interesting to see this whole thing unfold and I've enjoyed our time of "Ape Together Strong" and I hope that doesn't go away based on today's drama.
