In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth : A reminder that one thing about us, we gon' find a way to get some joy if we gotta create it whole cloth. https://twitter.com/yagirltoomuch/status/1185560983022047232
Which kind of Black laugher are you?
I'm a runner and a faller. I enjoy the theatrics of it
This might be my favorite laughing example because it gives you all the elements:
Yell laugh, silent laugh, falling out, AND running out the room.
This is excellent. https://twitter.com/shae726/status/1356340596861001728
Twitter has limited poll spots but I needed to add the foot stomper. (Bc we know he's stomping 😂) https://twitter.com/sh3rine_/status/1356347568477888512
Angela's laugh + Don falling half out of frame >>>>
I let the laugh just do what it's gonna do 🤷🏽‍♀️. I was at an event once when a former intern - wasn't even MY intern - came up to me and said he recognized my laugh from across the room. It had been like 4, 5 years since we were at the same company.
You gotta have that "Whooo, Jesus" moment while you try to get your wind before laughing all over again. https://twitter.com/cheryllynneaton/status/1356351616153251842
I still don't know what they were even laughing about. Don't even care.
Another general Black laugher category Twitter didn't give me room to account for: the cackle.
The alternate cackle/auntie laugh
Somebody said we really use our whole bodies to convey emotion. YES.
The funnier something is, the more you need to gesture and or move. It's science
Spice was playing, but it's funny because this is LITERALLY how we do.
When you trying to repeat the joke and you can't even get the words back out bc air is nonexistent >>> https://twitter.com/niksaidthat/status/1356367011950043137
This is what you should envision when we say we're screaming, yelling or hollering https://twitter.com/rell500/status/1356365993333948417
If you don't know what it feels like to have been laughing so hard already that you literally can't get full words out and your voice goes up like 2 octaves for lack of oxygen, connect with something/someone that'll give you that. It's cathartic. And it's our survival skill.
Also, y'all lift up a prayer for the brother who went out of his way to say he just "regular laughs." He needs some joy.
That's this one
