1/ The new @Cineplex Rec Room, currently under construction in DT #Vancouver. This will have a massive impact in helping change the 800 block of Granville St (Between Smithe and Robson)

Inchorent 🧵 on the 800 block of Granville and why "The Strip" needs leadership now #van2022
2/ Continuing on with the Rec Room, once complete it will become an instant destination, not just for those that are of drinking age but for the many teens (roughly 6,000 not including the West End) that call Downtown home.

The kids will have another new spot to hang out.
5/ This brings us to Granville Street and "The Strip" as a whole.

It has a lot of potential, however, it's been mismanaged by an out of touch bureaucratic City Hall and Planners who still want to see #Vancouver remain a sleepy town for whatever reason. #Van2022
6/ Old-time thinking and being fixated on one agenda at City Hall must stop. Tackle multiple issues at once. The people are starting to get fed up with your lack of action, vision, and accountability. Change can happen, the private sector is ready to invest, let them! #Van2022
8/ If this comes to fruition, the night mayor has to be under 40 or have worked in the nightlife industry. Full stop.

Start with Granville, then layer in Gastown, Chinatown, Yaletown, Main Street all of it, and Commercial. These areas should all be alive at night. #Van2022
9/ One idea is to make it pedestrian-only from May to October, filled with pop-up patios all the way from Drake to West Georgia.

Run the buses up and down Howe and Seymour and figure it out. People can walk an extra block, it's good for you. #van2022
10/ The street can be revitalized if there's a collective will, which seems to be lacking at City Hall.

If politicians would talk to the right people in the industry, they would know that they are down for a change. Let's relax the liquor laws, operating hrs, and other red-tape
11/ I'm not alone in this frustration. Many Vancouverites are infuriated that our so-called leaders don't act fast. We've wasted years to develop a City-Wide plan. By the time you finish, it's going to be outdated. Make a plan, test it, make tweaks. Agile, not rigid. #Van2022
13/ Once COVID is over people will have a pent-up demand for socializing. The Granville Strip should be part of the @CityofVancouver's main focus in bringing people together. This is Metro Van's playground, lets make it better @kennedystewart and crew. #Van2022
