Let me tell you something as someone who survived as a progressive on FB in 2016, without getting suspended or banned: it was very, very hard to do. Numerous political groups I was a member of got taken over by the Nazi crowd.
I was made to apologize for calling ann coulter a "b*tch" on a progressive group. You see, the Nazis would infiltrate the group and make mass reports to FB about what we were saying. Nearly everyone got suspended at some point.
I learned from that one experience and gradually went less and less political on FB, finally going totally milquetoast in 2020. If you're still stuck on FB (and I am for a couple of reasons), try this. It drives them nuts.
For instance, since they've also been nominally cracking down on the Nazis (leading to the whining detailed above), the Nazis have started trying to infiltrate non-political groups. How do I know? Because I own two of them.
That's the reason I'm stuck on FB. Anyway, every day in recent months I've had to decline membership in both groups to people who plainly had no interest in the subject matter, but judging from their timelines were clearly MAGA/Nazi.
So don't let this latest whine get to you. It's bogus. And they're committed to finding ways around it, currently by joining groups about cats and baby dolls and then posting screeds about Trump having the election stolen from him, etc.
In short, it's just more b*llsh*t. I'm sure sooner or later FB will try to intervene to stop me from rejecting memberships for these people, but for the time being I've found a way to say FU to all of them. And keep my groups safe.
