THREAD: I’m going to Popeye’s to get lunch.
I am totally unsurprised to find there are no @PopeyesChicken locations in Santa Monica, or even close.
It’s on. I’m 20 minutes from the La Brea location. @sonofakarma get your order in. ( @wpschwarz I’m not Postmates. You can come pick up.)

Made it. Drive thru available but hell no. I got my industrial grade n-95 with me. I’m going in.
A little history upon arrival. “300 years ago” lolz.
3-piece spicy. Both varieties of the famous chicken sandwich. They don’t have sparking or bottled water and *zero* gluten-fee bun options on the sandwich. How do they stay open...And my name today is LAP.
My hand to God- this man named Clark just came in here and ordered 2 things, a biscuit with extra jelly and a small strawberry soda like it wasn’t shit.
Nice guy, that Clark. He complemented my scarf just as my order came up. Back home to eat.

The sides first...the mac and cheese is pedestrian at best. Expected more.
Cuban people, snobs by nature, get *really* picky about beans and rice. So when I tell you these red beans and rice are pretty good, that means they’re probably *great* by white people standards. Fully devoured.

It’s fine... @PopeyesChicken is fine. But King Still King.
The sandwich is very nice. Not quite ready to call it a brioche bun, but it’s close. I’m like a sandwich only customer going forward.
In closing: Some people like strawberry ice cream others hate it. To each their own. I love fried chicken. @PopeyesChicken gave me joy for a few minutes which is all you can ask of food, and I feel closer to @willbardwell now. Win-Win.
