To our followers, listeners, and friends—I’m thrilled to continue learning, listening, and discovering with you all on the SAME podcast feed, under a new name: @PoliticologyPod. 1/7
When I cofounded The Lincoln Project, we set out to defeat Trump and Trumpism. Trump is now out of office, but the malignant tumors of Trumpism are clearly spreading, and the infection is deeper than we knew. 2/7
Now, we must wrestle with the social and cultural forces that paved the way for a wannabe-dictator’s rise to power. We need to locate the cracks in our democracy. And we need to figure out how to fix them. 3/7
To do that, we need to expand our view of what politics is in the first place. It’s not a game reserved for elected officials and professional staff. In fact, politics touches every part of our lives, and every single one of us is engaged in it—even when we don’t realize it. 4/7
You’ll still hear from many of the same voices you’ve come to know and trust, and the formats will stay familiar. We’ll still break down the biggest political news on our weekly roundups and have thoughtful conversations with experts... 5/7
But, we also need to better understand who we are, how we got here, what we are really fighting each other about, and how we strengthen our civic immune system—so that our democracy is much less vulnerable to extremism in all its forms. 6/7
Politics in America is transforming.
I know it's been a long 4 years, but I hope you'll stay just as engaged as we write the next chapter together... because we need you now more than ever.
