I want to talk a bit about that word, ‘openly’. Because what you will often hear from homophobes and transphobes is that they don’t care what people do in private but they don’t have to be so ‘open’ about it, it doesn’t have to be so ‘in your face’. https://twitter.com/tomhulme79/status/1356304711717187584
Every day, heterosexual and cisgender people walk down the street holding hands with their partners, linking them, kissing them, wearing the clothes they feel comfortable in. If that isn’t being open and in your face about your sexuality/gender identity, what exactly is?
It’s just one of a long list of examples of bigots being completely blatant about the fact that they do not believe LGBT people should be allowed to exist and operate within society but using language that they think sounds in some way reasonable.
