Baptist leaders: "Only men can be in leadership positions, so they can use their strength to protect women."

Also Baptist leaders: "I'm sorry, I can't do anything substantial to help sexual abuse victims because other men might say mean things about me."

A plague of cowards.
All Baptist leaders? No.

But enough that it's a constant theme for men to hide behind bylaws (that they created) and committees (that they sit on) instead of taking personal risks to actually help the women who are literally begging them to make things right.
There is not a single man--not one--in the leadership of the SBC that has shown half of the courage, or made half the sacrifices, as the many women & men who have spoken publicly and laid their lives bare in an attempt to make things better for victims of sexual abuse in the SBC.
Victims walk a path of burned bridges, broken relationships, mental anguish, & vicious accusations. If they are lucky, they'll encounter someone who will "want to help" but will only do so if his prospects aren't injured too much. He'll also expect praise for his "courage."
For all the talk in the SBC of "masculine leaders" who fight, who do battle, who defend women... Where the heck are they?

I'll tell you: Off tilting at windmills of politics & culture, because they'd rather be doing that than the hard job of holding their own accountable.
Just going to leave this as an appropriate addendum. https://twitter.com/R_Denhollander/status/1356370486209503232?s=19
