A Star Studded Free Agent Class: Chris Carson Spotlight
Chris Carson has quietly been a top 20 back the last 3 seasons, and now heads into a free agent class that will see some teams addressing RB. Let’s dive deeper
Chris Carson has finished top 20 the last 3 seasons, with a RB12 finish in 2019. Chris Carson also averages over 4.4 YPC in every year since 2018. Carson will be heading into his age 27 season, which has a track record of being the year some RBs drop off. Let’s explore.
2nd contracts don’t come often for RBs nowadays, as it seems most teams would rather replace within the draft then to resign an aging RB. That’s fair, but Carson still offers some upside and some viable years left. (video via: @NFLonFOX)
While Carson won’t demand a huge market, as it’s been a shallow market for RBs over the past few years. But he can definitely head to a team like Arizona or Buffalo and be an above average starter. Hell, even heading back to Seattle would still offer upside for Carson.
Arizona is an intriguing fit, as Kenyan Drake is also set to hit the open market. Chris Carson is a better runner and catcher than Drake, and in an offense that seemed to be a piece of two away, Carson can upgrade a much needed position for ARZ.
Carson will find a job, no doubt about it. Carson has a world of opportunities heading into this offseason. He can choose his next job, if he wants to chase the championship he can go to BUF/TB/SEA if he wants to prove he can handle a big role still he can head to MIA/ARZ.
Carson is talented, and will make for a good veteran RB for any team. His dynasty fantasy value takes a major hit though, as he heads into his age 27 season. RBs don’t tend to last long, and if I can somehow still get out from Carson, I’m going too. (video via: @NFLonFOX)
Carson will have some pretty good value for 2021. Carson has some gas left in tank, but after 2021 is where it can get blurry. I have Carson ranked RB27 in dynasty, but could see him finishing anywhere from RB9-RB41.
