Bill Russell was born on February 12, 1934. Bill Russell played 13 seasons in the NBA and is regarded by some as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. During his tenure with the NBA, Russell averaged 15.1 points, 22.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
Bill Russell broke the color barrier when he became the first black player to become an NBA MVP and NBA Coach. In his long career with the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell became an 11 time NBA Champion, 5 time NBA MVP, 12 time NBA All-Star, and a hall of Famer.
