Right, for #LGBTHistoryMonth I’m going to try and post every day about an LGBT person whose words, deeds, courage, or general fabulousness have made a difference to my life. In no particular order, and with no implied preference, here we go...
For starters, here’s Philippa York. Racing as Robert Millar in the 80s, she finished 4th in the Tour de France, and won the polka dot jersey. (And what a charismatic climber!) She announced her transition in 2017, and is now a respected and much-loved commentator. #LGBTHM21
Day Two of Chappell’s Personal LGBTQ+ icons: Alison Bechdel. Her DTWOF comic strip has been a foundational influence on (/confirmation of) my own ~lesbian identity for almost 20 years. I served her a drink in Southopia (RIP) in 2005, and almost swooned. #LGBTHM21
