New Council position on #CoFoE on the way. Changes to previous version are "bold und underlined". Nearly all of them apply to the leadership structure of the Conference. Apart from that: Nothing different in substance.
So what are the consequences?

A thread 🧵
Leadership: Three presidents of the EU institutions with little time. An executive board with "up to three representatives from EP, Council, and Comm". Some of them very ambitious. MEPs push for strong citizen participation, France included via EU-Presidency. Hickups guaranted.
Who else is involved? Stream with citizen panels on national and European level is becoming much clearer. But involvement of other EU actors and especially national parliament needs to be further specified. Same applies to CoR, EESC and civil society.
Timeline: Yes, #CoFoE should start asap but not before 9th May. Planning of serious citizen assemblies, especially transnational, digital ones requires detailed planning. Once the new digital participation platform is ready it can serve as a first tool to engage in discussions.
Outcome: All up in the air. In reality there is no agreement about what to do with the conference results yet. But the EU will be experiencing unchartered democratic territory. Oppenness on all sides (politicians, media, citizen) regarding new methods will be crucial.
