How to detect manipulation through positive and negative emotions.

Thread.
Manipulation is not an immoral concept. The reason why manipulators get a undesirable name,

is because it is easier to commit evil acts through emotions than it is through logic.

But the moral significance of manipulation depends on its utility and outcome.
Your parents used to manipulate you by doing you favors as a reward for good behavior for your own benefit.

A sociopath manipulates you by doing you favors to hold something over you for his own benefit.

Same method employed.

Different outcomes & intentions.
We are more likely to do something, when the transaction involves emotions than logic.

Because logic is truth and truth is nature. It's harsh, unfair and unbiased.

Rarely do people prefer to transact under these conditions.

We decorate our lives by obscuring the truth.
Understand that a manipulator uses emotions to achieve a particular outcome.

They convolute the truth, evoke feelings & desires to achieve their ends.

A rationalist is the polar opposite. They apply critical thinking to analyze truth and attain a particular outcome.
The key in knowing your exposure to manipulation is understanding your appeal to positive emotion and your sensitivity to negative emotions.

Extroverted people are easier to manipulate with positive emotions.

Neurotic people are easier to manipulate with negative emotions.
If you appeal to positive emotions,

manipulators will try and sell you a 'happy state'.

Your willpower in resisting the desire to experience this happy state will determine whether you will critically explore the truth of what the manipulator is trying to do.
You sensitivity to negative emotions will make you a victim to compulsion. Your inability to confront conflict will have you succumb to threats of 'do this or else'.

Neurotic people are the easiest to manipulate as pressing on their emotions are tied to their survival instincts.
They will do anything for comfort and security.

This is why the mainstream media is so effective in manipulating the masses.

They turn on your sensitivity towards negative emotions and have you comply accordingly.
If you can identity whether someone is extroverted, neurotic or agreeable,

you've completed the first part of the puzzle. From there, it's just a matter of

selling a 'happy state' or implicitly threatening with a 'sad state'.
Profiling people according to their personality is mandatory to effectively lead them.

Because leadership is often a combination of influence and compulsion. To employ both methods,

a good understanding of peoples proclivity towards positive and negative emotions are required.
