A few years ago, I published The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You'll Ever Need.

Today, I'll summarize the book in 6 tweets.

(thread)

Lesson 1. There is no plan.

The world is too chaotic to game. Make decisions for fundamental, not instrumental, reasons.
Lesson 2. Think strengths, not weakness.

You're better off -- usually way better off -- concentrating on what you're good at instead of endlessly trying to fix what you stink at.
Lesson 3. It's not about you.

Successful people improve their lives by improving the lives of others.

They focus their brainpower and energy outward, not inward.
Lesson 4. Persistence trumps talent.

Show up. Show up again. And again. And again.

Most people won't.

Innate ability is overrated. Grit is underrated.
Lesson 5. Make excellent mistakes.

Stupid mistakes are signs of sloppiness.

Quality mistakes -- which come from aiming high, challenging convention, fearing mediocrity -- are signs of promise.
Lesson 6. Leave an imprint.

You're not here forever. Do something that matters.
