A thread : finding a Douglas Luiz replacement
of course city can buy luiz for around £25 million so here I’ll look at realistic options if city were to buy him back
there’s 3 main players that could be a Luiz replacement : ranger’s Glen Kamara, Sassuolo captain Locatelli and Fulham’s frank Zambo Anguissa
to compare , we need to see Luiz’s stats , for villa we see how he defends very deep but also is great at carrying the ball and passing out from the back
we see that Luiz likes to sit deep in our own half but also isn’t afraid to carry the ball to the half way line and make a pass
the most expensive of the three locatelli would cost around £30 million - the price of what Luiz would be bought back for
Locatelli is a player who is creative as and can also defend well, he is also 10cm taller than Luiz which means he is a greater threat in the air
his defensive stats are incredible, and when 54th in the world for tackles it is no surprise when the likes of juventus and Man City are interested. He averages more tackles per game than Luiz and also is wins more Ariel duels
however a more realistic option would be Fulham’s Frank Zambo Anguissa and if Fulham were to go down, he could be very cheap
the Cameroon midfielder plays in the middle of the Fulham midfield, but the experienced midfielder would be better suited in a deeper lying role at villa
Anguissa can also dribble the ball well which is a key part to Douglas Luiz’a game, he also unlike Luiz as such, is great in the air which could provide a good balance with a smaller mcginn in the side
this deal would look unlike although, if Fulham were to stay up
the cheapest of the three would be ranger’s midfielder Glen Kamara who has impressed and attracted the likes of Leeds and Brighton previously
his defensive stats may not be as good as Luiz, but that’s mainly because he operates in a flat 4-3-3, when in a 4-2-3-1 Kamara has impressed
both his passing and defending success shows how great he is at the 2, all be it not as high profile as a locatelli or anguissa
what does make him favourable though is that he can play in a range of positions, which would make him one of the most versatile players in the club
for me however, I believe Locatelli would be the best choice for villa , he is young and the stats are incredible but of course , would be expensive
