(THREAD) A friendly reminder not to be harsh on yourself if you're neglecting your personal #genealogy research right now. The lockdown juggle is tough. (1/n)

Perhaps you're trying to work whilst homeschooling, caring for relatives or managing long-term medical issues with little/no outside support. Each one of these is difficult, even more so when taken together. Be kind to yourself. (2/n)
Our ancestors - much as we might love working with them - will happily wait until we're able to get back to our #FamilyHistory research & give them some time and attention.

Confession: Serious lack of time has meant I've barely touched my personal genealogy work over the past year.

Throughout the pandemic, family & pro work are top of my list. Homeschooling & managing long-term med/mobility stuff need my attention. Non-negotiable.

And so my research & study time mostly involves other people's ancestors. And that's OK (5/n)

So, if any of this chimes with your own pandemic experience, please know you're not alone.

THE ANCESTORS WILL WAIT IF THEY HAVE TO.

Your personal research will see another sunrise at some point.

That #genealogy reunion with your personal research will feel amazing when it finally happens.

Please feel free to share your own experiences of pandemic #genealogy (or lack thereof). It'll do us all some good to chat and be realistic about the world we're in right now. (7/n)
And GOOD LUCK with it all, wherever you are in the world.

Rest assured I'll be doing a happy dance once I'm giving those ancestors of mine more attention...and working out where I put those eraser-free pencils for use in the archives... (FIN)
