The national broadcaster wants our licence fee despite cancelling real debate on a raft of very important issues. Here is a selection. (1). The EU: an unalloyed good, not to be seriously questioned.
(2) American politics: Democrats good, Republicans wicked. (3) Climate change: give the worst alarmists a free run, don't discuss trade-offs in an intelligent way.
(4) Abortion: a settled issue. (5) Marriage and the family: a settled issue. (6) Euthanasia: almost a settled issue.
(7) Political correctness: overwhelmingly a good thing. Its implications for academic freedom, freedom of speech etc only of minor concern.
(8) Multi-culturalism: an unalloyed good. (9) The Catholic Church: a net harm to society. Reform along RTE lines or die off. (10) High immigration: an unalloyed good. (11) Israel: wicked (China not so bad).
(12) Public spending: how much more we should spend, and on what. (13) Tax cuts: selfish.
