Locking down an entire population is not an act of Christian agape. It is a calculated decision to attempt to protect one highlighted group of people to the immense damage of hundreds of other non-highlighted groups of people. And this to protect political reputations.
This is achieved through the spreading of fear via a mainstream media machine that has been bought and paid for. Once the population are terrified they can be controlled. This is manipulation.
Rather than endorsing this, the Church should call it out as evil.
Rather than propagating the politics of fear the Church should embody the message of the incarnation - fear not, for I am with with you - and repeat the biblical injunction that to be mastered by fear is sin.

Only when we trust in God and reject fear are we truly free. This is a freedom which cannot be taken away by the BBC because it is a gift of grace guaranteed by the indestructible life of the risen Jesus.
