I've used the term gleichschaltung before to describe what is happening and it is a valid term to use. The entire apparatus of the UK is being harmonized towards the Conservative Party and their donors ends. The entire system is going to need smashed up, it is beyond reform.

The chances of that happening are next to zero. From gerrymandering to threatening the judiciary to the security state to the culture war, the Tories have it all sewn up. It's a one-party state for all intents and purposes and it is not going to change for decades, if at all.

The significance of the 2017 and 2019 elections will reverberate for decades. It really was the last chance to do anything worthwhile through the Westminster system. To paraphrase Jim Callaghan- I tell you in all candour that that option no longer exists.
