Lori Lighfoot is a bad mayor and a disgrace to the ideals of Black and queer liberation which she’s exploited in her short career
I mean, her politics are bad—but she’s also really bad at enacting them
Her techniques are crude, her reasoning unsophisticated. When I was reading this article that quoted me in the Reader, I learned Lightfoot was the first mayor since 1855 to raise the bridges to stymy dissent.

It deeply offends me that she rode in using being a Black lesbian as a reason why she'd back life better, only to have the CPD crack Black queer skulls and—now—to try to harm Black teachers & students.
This is the digital classroom version of raising her God damn bridges. She is using public infrastructure to frighten and beat ppl into accepting unsafe conditions.

And while frightening, it’s also very interesting. As life moves more online (COVID or not, it inevitably is), it’s interesting to see how employers will punish workers with tools they control. You can’t really picket Google classroom.
