CPD, which is famous for sending a "crime is down" press release literally moments after midnight on the first of every month, is delaying the February 1 release until 5 p.m.

...per statement, CPD is revising and expanding "the way its public safety data is compiled, shared, and communicated. This new and more comprehensive format of our monthly email will continue to provide statistics that provide a transparent look at the crime picture in Chicago."

...Somehow, we expect crime will be down again every month, just like before. As someone once joked, with the ongoing rate of declining crime, Chicagoans will soon be *owing* crime every month.
