Praying the rosary is good.
Should we encourage it? Yes.
Is it the only way to attain holiness? No.
Are you a bad Catholic if you don’t pray it habitually or at all? No.
Should praying the rosary (or prayer in general) be accompanied by acts of charity/service? Absolutely.

Can we move on from the rosary discourse now?

If you’re looking to *spice up* your prayer life other forms of habitual prayer I think are excellent is:
- Making a Holy Hour
- A gratitude journal
- Praying a daily Litany
- Liturgy of the Hours
- Offering your day’s work as prayer through the intercession of St. Joseph

Here’s how I used to journal and incorporate prayer into my journaling (obviously should be as elaborate or simplistic as you like): https://twitter.com/michael_tarui/status/1315839425759256576

Prayer is defined by the Catechism as a gift, a covenant, and a communion with God.
Getting overly legalistic and moralistic about prayer seems to undermine again the “gift” prayer is. Prayer lifts the mind to God and allows us to live out His will more effectively.

St. Therese defined prayer as “a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”
Prayer should be simple as St. Therese put. It should be free and embodied however way works best for us.

Basically, my take is just pray and live out the faith well. That will ultimately convince other people to do the same more anyway once they see the fruits of your prayer/faith.
My convos w/friends are never the same. Why should prayer, a convo w/God, be any diff.?
