If you went back in a time machine to summer and fall of 2020 and asked all the Democrats what Trump should do to stop the pandemic they would say: Pay everyone $2000 per month to stay home and expand medicare to all while we vaccinate.

They're in charge now, but not doing it.
You would need a time machine to do this because history doesn't exist beyond last week in US politics, apparently.
"I won’t stop fighting for $2,000 monthly payments and extending unemployment benefits."

@KamalaHarris, July 28th, 2020
"A one-time payment wasn’t nearly enough. We can’t wait any longer to pass my bill to provide $2,000 every month throughout this pandemic."

@KamalaHarris, July 1st, 2020
"People will be kicked out of their homes if Congress doesn’t quickly move to ban evictions and foreclosures until this pandemic is over—and pass my $2,000 monthly payments bill."

@KamalaHarris, June 13th, 2020
"Our government should be there for people during moments of crisis. That’s why Bernie Sanders, Ed Markey, and I proposed direct payments of $2,000 a month throughout the course of the pandemic...

Bills didn’t just stop after the first check."

@KamalaHarris, June 4th, 2020
"It’s just common sense as rent comes due and bills start to pile up during this crisis: we need to give people $2,000 monthly payments so they can make ends meet."

@KamalaHarris, May 9th, 2020
"Medical bills are the main reason Americans go bankrupt in the United States. It’s absolutely shameful what our nation is doing to our citizens. We must pass my Medicare for All plan."

@KamalaHarris, August 19th, 2019
"You know who says Medicare for All is a 'good idea'? Barack Obama."

@KamalaHarris, July 31st, 2019
"Right now, the U.S. spends $3.5 trillion a year on health care. If we do nothing over the next decade, that number will skyrocket to an estimated $6 trillion.

We can’t afford the status quo. That’s why I’ve proposed my Medicare for All plan."

@KamalaHarris, July 29th, 2019
"In our America, health care should be a right, not a privilege only for those who can afford it."

@KamalaHarris, July 29th, 2019
"Too many people in our nation still do not have access to affordable health care.

Medicare for All is the answer to ensure health care is a right, not a privilege for those who can afford it."

@KamalaHarris, June 20th, 2019
"Nobody should have to worry about paying a medical bill to stay alive.

Health care should be a right. It’s why I support Medicare for All."

@KamalaHarris, May 8th, 2019
"We cannot wait for our broken health care system to fix itself. It’s on us to fight so that access to health care is never seen as a luxury again. Let’s make Medicare for All a reality."

@KamalaHarris, May 5th, 2019
"Health care is a human right. It shouldn’t matter where you live, how much money you make, or whether you have a pre-existing condition. It’s incumbent we make that right a reality with Medicare for All."

@KamalaHarris, April 30th, 2019
"It is unconscionable that Americans across the country have mountains of debt from medical bills. We must address our crumbling health care system and pass Medicare for All."

@KamalaHarris, March 21st, 2019
"There’s nothing partisan about wanting a system where health care isn’t based on how much money you have or the area you live in. I support Medicare for All because health care shouldn’t be a function of your bank account."

@KamalaHarris, March 8th, 2019
"Big insurance companies and Big Pharma are already hiring lobbyists to try to stop us from passing Medicare for All. But I’ve got news for them: we won’t back down."

@KamalaHarris, Feburary 25th, 2019
"If you send Jon and the Reverend to Washington, those $2,000 checks will go out the door, restoring hope and decency and honor for so many people who are struggling right now."

@JoeBiden, January 4th, 2020
"President Trump could have acted months ago to curb this pandemic—it's obvious he still hasn’t learned his lesson. He continues to ignore the warnings of health experts and we're all paying the price."

@JoeBiden, August 7th, 2020
"Here’s what’s really happening in Arizona: Gov. Ducey is rushing reopening without adequate testing and contact tracing."

@JoeBiden, August 7th, 2020
"We all want students back in the classroom, but President Trump hasn't done the work to make sure schools can reopen safely and effectively."

@JoeBiden, September 2nd, 2020
"It's long past time for Trump to step up and implement a national testing strategy so we can begin safely reopening the economy."

@JoeBiden, May 18th, 2020
"Mass testing is key to reopening the economy and returning to some semblance of normalcy."

@JoeBiden, April 18th, 2020
"President Trump needs to do everything in his power to expand the number of testing sites and surge the number of tests."

@JoeBiden, April 11th, 2020
NBC reporting: Shutting down businesses and paying people for lost wages for four to six weeks could help keep the coronavirus pandemic in check and get the economy on track until a vaccine is distributed...

— Dr. Osterholm, COVID advisor to Biden, November 11, 2020
"I’ve been saying for some time that saying, ‘masks and wash your hands’ is not enough... The economy will shut down on its own if we see this uncontrolled transmission..."

— Dr. Osterholm, COVID advisor to Biden, November 17th, 2020
"What we're saying is, until we lock down again, and bring these cases to a screeching halt which could, by the way, be for months and months, these cases can occur a these high levels."

— Dr. Osterholm, COVID advisor to Biden, August 10th, 2020
"Many other countries have the same situation as we did, and they did a real lock down. They actually did bring the contact between people to a minimum. And as a result of that... they really did start to extinguish the virus transmission."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 10th, 2020
"Many of us have been saying the kids do get infected... as schools reopen is those kids are in secondary school, junior high in high school, do very much get infected and spread the virus."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 10th, 2020
"In just weeks we could almost stop the viral fire that has swept across this country... It will require sacrifice but save many thousands of lives."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"We believe the choice is clear.

We can continue to allow the coronavirus to spread rapidly throughout the country or we can commit to a more restrictive lockdown, state by state, for up to six weeks to crush the spread of the virus..."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"Why did the United States’ COVID-19 containment response fail... ?

Simply, we gave up on our lockdown efforts to control virus transmission well before the virus was under control."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"Don’t confuse short-term case reductions in some states as permanent. We made that mistake before. Some have claimed that the widespread use of masks is enough to control the pandemic, but let us face reality..."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"We support the wearing of masks by all Americans, but masking mandates and soft limitations on indoor crowds in places such as bars and restaurants are not enough to control this pandemic."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"To successfully drive down our case rate... we should mandate sheltering in place for everyone but the truly essential workers.... people must stay at home and leave only for essential reasons..."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"If we aren’t willing to take this action, millions more cases with many more deaths are likely before a vaccine might be available. In addition, the economic recovery will be much slower..."

— Dr. Osterholm, August 7th, 2020
"There is no trade-off between health and the economy. Both require aggressively getting control of the virus. History will judge us harshly if we miss this life-and economy-saving opportunity to get it right this time." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/07/opinion/coronavirus-lockdown-unemployment-death.html
Today we face many many months before people are vaccinated, possibly until next spring if things don't go exactly right.

We must ask why the @WHCOVIDResponse Team isn't recommending paying people to stay home while we vaccinate, the very thing everyone suggested all year?
"If communities open now, it’s not going to end well for far, far too many people."

— Dr. Tom Frieden, Obama's CDC Director, Jan 29th
When Biden says he's going to "listen to science" what does that mean? Is it only when he thinks it won't have an economic impact?

"I am not going to shut down the economy, period."

@JoeBiden, November 19th, 2020
When the experts say that a national lockdown would stop the virus, but Biden refuses because he doesn't think it's a good idea, is he really "listening to science"? https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/1329540397765447687
Who is going to hold the Biden administration accountable for the hundreds of thousands of *additional* and *preventable* deaths from COVID-19 that will result from his refusal to shutdown the country and pay people to stay home?
Dr. Osterholm warning that in the next 6 weeks we may see COVID-19 spread in the US unlike anything we've seen so far. https://twitter.com/MeetThePress/status/1356048801472126976
The White House Senior Advisor for COVID Response, along with all the other scientists, have pointed out that by shutting down we could stop COVID-19.

Why aren't we saving hundreds of thousands of lives by paying people to stay home right now? https://twitter.com/ASlavitt/status/1287524302309543937
A challenging problem we face today is that our new president can't imagine why we would want to save hundreds of thousands of lives with a shutdown.

"There is no circumstance which I can see that would require a total national shutdown."

@JoeBiden, November 19, 2020
Countries using a #ZeroCOVID strategy have reduced infections and deaths because they understand well-executed shutdowns aren't harmful, they're helpful.

They help make it so you can re-open faster. https://twitter.com/OmanReagan/status/1359623766259634177
What happened between August and October that made Biden change his mind about being willing to use a #ZeroCOVID strategy to save lives and stop the pandemic?

@WHCOS @aslavitt46 https://twitter.com/MollyNagle3/status/1296943019002941441
In August when Biden was asked about January 2021 he said "we can not get the country moving until we control the virus" and that he would be willing to shut things down to control the virus.

So why is he still using Trump's pandemic strategy? https://medium.com/@OmanReagan/bidens-pandemic-strategy-is-still-trump-s-pandemic-strategy-8fed43318af3
