A big ol thread. 2 years ago was the worst night of my life and y'all my colon and placenta blew up thanks to Ehlers-danlos Syndrome so that's saying a lot!
On 1/31/19, I flew to Guadalajara with my husband and kid to see family. 45 and his piece of SHIT crew had other plans. The US couldn't fuck with me since I'm a US citizen but they sure as hell could have Mexico do it. So they did. There were a million congressional inquiries resulting in a whole bunch of nothing so we sued. https://www.aclusocal.org/en/press-releases/phillipsvcbp
Right as we were working on family separation cases, I was separated from my husband and made the agonizing yet retrospectively good decision to be detained with my daughter (then 7) bc I will never forget her scream when I told her I couldn't go with her.
The room was freezing. 9.5 hours with no food or water, couldn't take any of my meds for 7 hrs until I begged the soldiers outside to let me get water. They yelled at me a lot. They kept telling us food was coming and we would leave soon. Kept pushing back our deportation flight.
7 hrs in. I have ehlers-danlos syndrome as I said above. This is not my face. This is a mast cell activation face. I was sick for like 2 months. Kid was so exhausted she slept most of the time but it was SO COLD in there and all I had was that ugly scarf in the LAT article below.
Then we finally got escorted by armed guards to the plane. Hadn't slept in over 24 hours and was in so much distress and pain and shame I have no words.
I was interrogated for an hour and a half before I was detained w my kid. Questions about weapons, cash, everywhere I ever lived, arrests, schools I attended, languages I speak, ties to terrorism, and a bunch of other shit I don't remember.
We finally got on the plane and I broke the fuck down. One of the flight attendants cried and gave me a ton of cookies, saying it was all she could do. Not true. The humanity she showed me helped so much. Also my kid is my goddamn hero.
Then "all" I had to worry about was @CBP, the agency who tortures my clients. I was shaking the whole flight. @eeerox mobilized an entire cavalry at LAX bc she is a pitbull from Jersey and if u fuck w her friends u fuck w her.
