6/ I'm now going to interject some stuff about Jill. Jill met her first husband William "Bill" Stevenson in August of 1969, and she married him 6 months later in February of 1970.
7/ They married right around the same time Joe and Neilia's second child, Robert Hunter Biden, was born. We all know Hunter.
8/ Also in 1970, Joe ran for and won a seat on the New Castle County Council.
Then, Bill Stevenson began his plans to open a college bar / pub. He worked with Joe to get the necessary liquor licenses.

9/ On November 8, 1971, Joe and Neilia's third child Naomi Christina "Amy" Biden was born.
10/ In February 1972, Bill Stevenson finally opened his bar the Stone Balloon with two locations (after Joe helped him with liquor licenses).
11/ The Stone Balloon was an immediate hit. They "book[ed] Blood, Sweat & Tears on a stage that also welcomed Bruce Springsteen and Metallica."

12/ Guess what else they did in 1972? They hosted at least one fundraiser for Joe, who'd decided to run for a Senate seat.
13/ On November 7, 1972, Joe won his Senate seat.
14/ Just over a month later, on December 18, 1972 (before Joe was sworn in), his wife Nelia and all three of their children were involved in a car accident. Neilia drove into the path of a tractor-trailer. Neilia and Amy died.
15/ In later years, Joe lied on at least two separate occasions... in 2001 and 2007... stating or suggesting that the driver of the truck that struck his wife's vehicle had been drinking, even though the driver was not charged with drunken driving (or any other infraction).
