Lightfoot keeps blaming CTU for everything. Let’s look at the facts; select schools got hepa filters. Select schools got PPE. Select schools/teachers are being tested for COVID not the majority. Teachers just want to feel safe. I get that.
Why didn’t Lightfoot & Arwady just setup educator specific vaccination clinics before schools would reopen. Other school districts have done that and their teachers are going and willing to go to school just because their districts had the foresight to get them vaccinated now.
Lightfoot keeps talking about 77,000 who are ready to back to school. The overwhelming majority are from wealthier neighborhoods where COVID isn’t at dangerous levels. The schools that are in high COVID areas are the ones without hepa filters, without PPE without temp checks.
Teachers are banning together to protect their fellow educators who are going to be the hardest hit. And now Lightfoot is threatening teachers & their livelihoods during the middle of a pandemic. You won’t increase the # of restaurant indoor patrons but you wanna reopen schools.
