Okay, time for a thread. Posting after discussion with my beloved @Mithrandir2k .

There's some confusion still as regards what happens when unmarried partners get together, so let's clarify this: married or unmarried, the same thing happens.

It restores our support system.

Case in point, I need him with me. I have crippling anxiety and have been battling depression ever since the beginning of the pandemic. I've now been prescribed meds for my anxiety and have regular follow-ups with my GP.

He also needs me. He's recently had a relapse of a disabling and painful mobility issue; we've been kept apart for months on end, and now, he has to deal with it alone. It is heartbreaking.

Were I to travel to take care of him, it would not be leisure travel. I would be taking physical care of my husband-to-be. And who is @JustinTrudeau to deny that to a bride, or put a punitive tax on it?

The constantly shifting goalposts have also increased my anxiety and his own; we're both scrambling to find ways to make our future a possibility, but constantly shifting rules with no timeline make it impossible to plan our wedding on either side of the pond. #LoveIsNotTourism
