When a Senator tried discussing the reconciliation "Byrd Rule" today, which would work around the filibuster, CNN cut him off.

Once the media hits on a ratings-friendly narrative, such as the filibuster being a magic wand, it'll do anything to preserve that narrative.
As Palmer Report keeps pointing out, Senate Democrats can change reconciliation rules in any way they want, and pass any legislation they want. For that matter they can also change filibuster rules to pass anything they want.
But the media knows it can keep you tuned in with the simplistic narrative that the filibuster must be *outright killed* or else nothing will pass, and there are no other options. So now the media is literally cutting off guests who point out why this narrative is untrue.
The CNN host even quipped that the Senator's talk of the "Byrd rule" would put the audience to sleep. It's a flat out admission that this isn't about reporting, or informing people, or even reality. It's about finding ways to keep you tuned in.
Remarkably, it was a Republican Senator who was attempting to speak about the Byrd rule. Even the Republicans are saying that the filibuster isn't a magic wand, and it doesn't have to be killed for Democrats to get everything they want. But the media won't allow such discussion.
This isn't just about CNN. Keep in mind that CNN and MSNBC have been jointly pushing this notion of the filibuster being a magic wand. Major media outlets love giving each other cover on these kinds of ratings-friendly simplistic narratives, so no one will question it.
Once MSNBC and CNN have convinced most of you of a simplistic ratings-friendly narrative, most smaller online news sites and most liberal Twitter pundits then also begin pushing that narrative. That know that you already believe it, so they get to look credible by parroting it.
